Ah... it's the end of the year again and it's time again to do the obligatory posting on what happened this year, the good and the bad. Forget about evaluating my resolutions, i think it'll be depressing to do that. *grins*

keeping me up whole night

It all started with the philo module. Yes yes, the one that I was whining about since the first day it started. In a strange twist of fate, it actually got me very interested in the concept of moral values and eventually creationism vs darwinism. I must say that this book together with some clips i found on youtube on Richard Dawkins has set me thinking and appreciating evolution as an elegant idea.

Indeed, Darwinism has served its purpose as a consciousness-raiser and made me realize that it's really alright not to constantly live in guilt or fear of god because there almost certianly is no such being. Which brings me to a conversation I had with Ted who recounted that when he asked his fellow acedemic in Cambridge what is his religion, his friend laughed and said that he was surprised that Ted even asked that question. According to him, most intellects or acedemics are atheist.

For the longest time I've considered myself agnostic until I was introduced to Richard Dawkins's "The God Delusion". He wrote "The Selfish Gene" among other hits too. There's an entire section devoted to agnostics like me and I suppose the only reason why I think I am agnostic is because i'm sitting on the fence and in case there's really a god, perhaps I will be spared. However, after reading this book, I kinda feel more happy and free as a person. Knowing that I make my own purpose in life and I do have control of my future is to say the least a liberation of sorts.

Indeed, I do not need to believe in god in order to marvel at the wonders of nature. I can look at a leaf and be awed by the kind of chemical reactions that is taking place in it. I can look at fig tree and be wowed by the relationship it has with the wasp. The list goes on. And all these, without having to bring in god into the equation. I highly recommend the book or at least the videos on youtube to anyone, especially biology teachers. The day we know science has lost and we're going backwards is when we start to even mention creationism as an alternative form of explanation to how species came about.

Afternoon out at Jurong Point

I'm so comfortable hiding in my hall that I don't want to come out to civilization. Think I will really miss staying the hall. I enjoy the freedom and being away from everything and everyone. Waking up late, reading till late and rolling in bed every morning. Went out to JP to do this movie call "Deja Vu". It's a sci-fi movie about folding back time. A bit of Einstein and Stephen Hawkins altogether. I would recommend this movie to any of you geeks out there. Frankly, I enjoyed the movie totally though the ending was erm.. a bit slapstick.

And so, we were at JP and guess who else was there? Russell Lee was at Popular Bookshop doing his usual i-wanna-be-oh-so-mysterious autograph session. Again, he was wrapped like an inari in black mouldy seaweed. It's amazing how STGS can actually reach vol.15.

Then we saw the most freaky sight! 7 (or more) freaky dancing christmas trees! These trees actually move and dance (rather scarily) according to the music. Quite a good way to cut cost. No need to hire dancers etc..just get a few freaking trees and they'll do the rest for you. See the crowd... hello? Halloween's over aint it?

Then we headed to Toys 'R' Us... while chewing the pearls in my bubble tea, I posed for my fans...

*argh*

Big brother dropped a bomb shell on me yesterday. At around 5pm yesterday, someone from the Staff Placement Unit called me and apologetically told me that due to staffing needs, I have been transferred to St. Theresa Secondary. He was quick to add that St. Theresa is in the vicinity of GESS.

Obviously upset at the change, I tried keeping my voice down and explained that GESS is very far from my place and the only reason why I had wanted any schools near that area was because GESS is my alma mater. Transferring me to any other schools anywhere near would be silly.

Thankfully, the guy was understanding and told me they'll try to make adjustments and will get back to me by next tue.

Talked to TAL, regarding this and she was supportive as usual. We both agreed that it's most unfortunate that even before we start our career we have to go through so much rubbish. I suppose I'm quite upset over what crap Ethan and Alvin went through with their posting and this episode I'm going through drove the nail deeper into the coffin.

Then another question came up... (this one cannot say...wanna know ask me personally)

Anyway, the more I think about it the more upset I get. Vented the anger out in the gym. I suppose I won't give in easily. However, if really die die no choice, I will make the best out of it.

Argh! Sucks.

*excited*

Brawnypaws can't explain how excited he is that 2007 is coming. After exactly a decade later, BP is finally returning to give what his alma mater has given him.

Just this Monday, BP chose his table and got his first task list. Was tasked to do the SOW for S1NTSci. Hmm... He is so excited that he can now experiment the different hands-on techniques learnt and how they may be deployed to help his juniors learn. Only one thing stands in his away now: Discipline. He desperately needs to find ways to relate, gain and build rapport with these group of juniors. Can BP do it? Can BP help all of them move up to NA next year?

TNN-NNP: If you are reading this, BP needs your award winning station thing you did for your prac.

*will update more soon* meanwhile... TPE 20-27th. Wheeee.... :P
